The National Healthy Schools Programme

Milton School achieved National Healthy Schools status in December 2007. The whole school community was involved in gaining this award.

What is this?

The NHSP is a joint venture by the DfES and Dept for Health, with a regional and local network. By 2009, the Government wants every school to be working towards achieving national Healthy Schools status.

Since September 2005, Ofsted have expected schools to demonstrate how they are contributing to the 5 national outcomes for children in Every Child Matters and the Children Act 2004:

Gaining national Healthy Schools Status provides rigorous evidence of this.

The Aims of the Programme:

 

A healthy school promotes the well-being of
its pupils and staff through a well-planned
curriculum taught in an environment that
promotes learning and healthy lifestyle choices.
